Empowerment to me is an inner knowing that I’m making a difference, that my life has worth and that I’m  adding value to the lives of others.

It’s when I’m seeking to empower others rather than directing my power over others.

It is also when I’m most inspired, open to challenges, harnessing my grit and nurturing my body and soul, so I can continue to do what I do best.

Empowerment for me is always at its strongest when I’m living a life ruled by my highest values and choosing to experience unconditional gratitude.

Everyone has a treasure chest inside them and the ability to be self-empowered. What we all value most in life varies between individuals; therefore what inspires one person to gain their power can be very different to the next person.

According to Dr John De Martini a world renowned human behavioural specialist, there are 7 main areas in our life that we are here to empower:

  • Our Spiritual mission – to be inspired by a mission in life
  • Our Mental genius/creativity
  • Our Vocational success, achievement and service
  • Our Financial freedom/independence – the ability to have more money at the end of your life than life at the end of your money
  • Our Family, love and intimacy – the power to have a relationship that’s stable and meaningful
  • Our Social influence and leadership
  • Our Physical Health – stamina, strength, vitality and well being

If you look around you’ll see that there are people who have powers in one or many of these areas.

De Martini suggests that “any area in your life that you don’t empower will result in someone else overpowering you. You’re not a victim of someone overpowering you, you’re simply just not empowered.”

It’s natural for us to want to empower all 7 areas of our life, however some areas may naturally be more  challenging for us to place value on than others.

So the question is:-

HOW DO WE EMPOWER OUR WEAKER AREAS?

Look carefully at what’s really most important to you

Where do you spend your time, your energy, your thoughts? What activities bring you the most joy?   What inspires you?

Work out which of the 7 areas your highest values sit.

Is it time and energy spent with family, the way you look and feel or maybe it’s being financially secure and prosperous.

Identify the areas you struggle with

What do you complain or worry about? What do you always have an excuse not to do?

Maybe you’d like a better job but don’t feel confident in your ability to learn new things. Maybe you’d like more friends but you don’t feel comfortable communicating with strangers or maybe you’d like to have some direction/mission in life.

Work out which of the 7 areas your lowest values sit.

Link your lowest values where you feel dis-empowered to your highest values where you feel    empowered

Ask the question – How will developing my lowest value help support my highest value?

Say your highest value is Family and one of your lowest values is your Physical Fitness.

Exercise:

Write 30 reasons why getting physically fit will help you to better service and enjoy your family.

For example, if I’m physically fit I’ll:

  • Have more endurance and energy for my family
  • Be happier with my own body and within myself
  • Be healthier and therefore more likely to live longer to enjoy my family
  • Encourage my family to enjoy exercise with me and teach them good habits etc etc.

The more positive links you can connect, the more likely you are to start taking action and make the move to empowering the previously dis-empowered areas of your life.

At Coast Chiropractic Kawana our mission is not only to help you reach your optimum physical health and well-being but to encourage and support you to become more empowered in every area of your life.
